Welcome to Waterloo, Iowa.Waterloo is the county seat of Black Hawk County, Iowa. Waterloo is situated on the Cedar River and shares a common boundary with Cedar Falls to the west. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 68,747.
It was the home of the five Sullivan brothers, who were killed during World War II, and Olympic wrestler Dan Gable. Cedar Falls hales renowned author Robert Waller (Bridges of Madison County) and celebrated artist and illustrator Gary Kelly, and was recently recognized as one of the best small art towns in America.
The highly regarded University of Northern Iowa is located in Cedar Falls. Its sporting, cultural and intellectual opportunities bring the Cedar Valley a stream of activities and opportunities for visitors to our communities. Historical sites including the Ice House Museum, listed on the National Register of Historical places, celebrate Cedar Falls' rich history.
In Waterloo, you will find four John Deere tractor factories available for tour, and the largest Haitian art collection in the United States at the Waterloo Museum of Art.
Waterloo is home of the Waterloo Blackhawks, a team in the United States Hockey League which plays in Young Arena. It is also the home of the Waterloo Bucks, a summer collegiate league baseball team which plays in the Northwoods League. The team plays at Riverfront Stadium.

Bluedorn Science Imaginarium - This hands-on science center makes learning scientific principles fun through interactive exhibits and formal demonstrations. Exhibits focus on light and electricity, momentum, liquids, gases and sound.
Ice House Museum - This circular structure built in 1921, once housed a flourishing ice business and now displays ice harvest equipment and photos depicting ice farming operations. Early farming, homemaking, and business memorabilia are also displayed.
